Freedom is America’s most treasured value and there’s no better day that recognizes this than the 4th of July. On Independence Day, we fill the night sky with fireworks; the smell of barbeque is in the air, and you can’t help but feel the patriotism all around.

At Sharp Residential we think it’s important for our residents to be able to experience this holiday in it’s entirety, so we put together a list of a few events that we hope you’ll be able to attend this year.

Food Fireworks and Fun

This year, celebrate the Fourth of July at Wills Park! Starting at 6 p.m. there will be a live musical performance by the Alpharetta City Band where they will be playing patriotic tunes followed by T James Bond with his performance of Classic Rock. Throughout the event there will be several food vendors that will be serving things such as mediterranean style dishes, firewood pizza, tacos, ice cream, old fashioned lemonade and more! The event concludes with a jaw-dropping fireworks display and is a perfect way to end your Fourth of July celebration.

Fireworks Extravaganza

Make your way to Roswell High School this Fourth of July for the 18th annual Roswell Fireworks Extravaganza. This wonderful Roswell tradition is a great family event that will kick off at 5:30 with giant inflatables, carnival games with prizes and several different food trucks including Big C’s Chicago kitchen, Cattywampus, Yumbii and Aurora Complex. There will also be live musical performances by The 120 East Band and Banks and Shane. The event wraps up with the famed fireworks extravaganza so bring your picnic blankets and chairs to experience the night of a lifetime.

4th of July Parade

What better way to celebrate the Fourth of July than a parade, festival, and fireworks. On Independence Day attend the City of Woodstock’s July 4th Spectacular. Starting at 10 a.m. there will be a parade that goes from the Woodstock Elementary School to Sam’s Club near Highway 92. After the parade you can attend the festival which will have a DJ, great food, arts & crafts, kids activities and more! Finally at dusk, you can watch an amazing fireworks display to perfectly end the night.

Steam engine parade and dance contest

On July 3rd, make your way down to the Cumming Fairgrounds for an Independence Day celebration like no other. Starting at 6:00 P.M. there will be food vendors and children’s activities followed by a dance contest at 8:30 P.M. Finally, at 9:30 P.M. there will be fireworks to watch until 11:00 P.M. Admission and parking is free for this event making it perfect for everyone.

Back to School Tips – Students in New Homes

0
0

Moving into a new home before the next school season begins can be an exciting and new experience for families and students. However, if you’re not prepared, the new school year can be harder than it should be. Most of you have probably familiarized yourself with school routines and are well prepared for the upcoming back to school season. So doing the same thing in a new home will be a breeze. With the first week of school being right around the corner, there’s no better time to organize your new Sharp Residential home for all of the papers, school supplies, and projects that will be coming home soon. To make the transition a bit easier we’ve compiled a list of simple and cost effective tips that will make your child’s transition back to school in a new home a little easier.

Maximize Your New Space

If you have recently purchased one of our exceptional homes, there is a ton of space for you to use during the school year. It’s important to keep your new home efficiently organized to avoid clutter. Instead of finding school bags and supplies everywhere, install a set of cubbies for your child to drop their stuff into when they get home. One of the most important things is to make sure they have a familiar and comfortable workplace, luckily several of our floorplans include them. This makes establishing a homework/ home office space much easier for you and your child. Even having a simple designated phone charging area can reap many benefits when it’s time for you and your family to put down your devices and spend quality time together.

New Season, Similar Routines

During the summer, sleep schedules are usually thrown out the window which makes it difficult to adjust to a new one. Consider how old your child is and how much sleep they need to be getting so they can always be well rested and ready to learn. To make the first day back to school easier for them, start getting them up earlier by reeling in bedtime the week before. To make the school mornings easier, help them organize their school stuff (backpacks, lunches, supplies) and pick out clothes to wear the night before.

Explore the Neighborhood Together

As we stated, moving into a new area is typically exciting for most but can be occasionally stressful for some. If your student is a bit nervous, they’ll likely feel more comfortable and begin to enjoy it more as soon as they start exploring around the area with you. When it comes to discovering more about your child’s school and the neighborhoods around it, one of the first things you should learn are the bus routes. Once you know them, you can plan your family’s daily departure schedules accordingly. Also, take the time to visit the new school and meet your child’s teachers to learn more about them and talk about your child’s needs.

Back to School Shopping

We all know how busy stores can be during the back-to-school season. To get everything you need without breaking the bank, look out for back-to-school sales at your local stores so you can quickly get what you need at an affordable price. Setting a budget is a good idea so you don’t end up spending too much money on things they don’t really need until their teacher gives them more specifics. If you would rather avoid the crowd entirely, then you can typically order most supplies online. Not only does this get everything done without having to leave the comfort of your home, you and your family will have more quality time to spend together before school starts. We wish you all the best in your new home and we hope you have a great school year.

When it comes to interior design trends, the Summer of 2017 has been one to remember. Not only has it brought back many design choices from the past, but also paved the way for new trends expected this fall. We understand how important it is for your home to stand out, and we’re here to help provide you with a well-crafted new dream home, inside and out. To make your house truly feel stylish and cozy, we’ve compiled some of Fall’s hottest interior design trends that you can incorporate into your new home’s decor.

Woven Textures

With unique texture ideas becoming increasingly popular for designers, there are more and more creative ways to add more character to your home. Recently, wicker baskets and woven textiles have emerged as two of the most popular textiles to incorporate in the home. Decor like this comes at a low cost and can be both practical and beautiful. Use items like woven baskets as a crafty storage piece that also add natural and organic beauty to your home.

Warm Metal Tones

Bronze, rose gold, and other warm metals have been trending this summer, which indicates we can look forward to other warmer metals in the fall. One metal that has already taken the lead is brass. Brass is a beautiful, standout metal that pairs well with a wide variety of furnishings. Lately, it has been used in accents or incorporated with marble countertops to create a unique and glamorous look. With something as timeless as brass, you can’t go wrong when using this elegant metal to decorate your home.

Earthy Palettes

Long before 2017, one design choice that has continued to be popular are white or light colored rooms. The fall season brings a whole palette of earthy tones, and to no surprise, people love to incorporate these colors into their homes. Earth tones compliment wood floors and are also great at making a room feel cozy and warm, perfect for master bedrooms and living rooms.

On trend lighting fixtures for Sharp Residential designs

Lighting the Way

One of the first features many guests will notice when entering your home is the lighting. This fall, you can expect to see an increase in the use of more aesthetic lighting. North Georgia is a wonderful place to live and visit because of its jaw-dropping scenery, endless outdoor space, and easy access to some of the best state parks Georgia has to offer. During autumn, the vast green landscape that we’re used to transforms into a stunning array of red, yellow and orange leaves. Whether you live in Atlanta or the countryside, you can enjoy the gorgeous trees bursting with color this fall. Here’s a list of some of the best locations for you and your family to experience the colors of the season.

Amicalola Falls State Park

Amicalola Falls has become a popular destination for many locals and tourists alike because of its 829 acres of captivating North Georgia wilderness. At this state park, you’ll find a 729-foot waterfall, zip line adventures, guided nature tours, climbing walls, a GPS scavenger hunt, and much more. There are several ways to camp throughout the park including 24 wooded campsites, RV accommodation sites, and the park’s Adventure Lodge. During your stay at Amicalola Falls State Park, make sure to watch the sun rise over the hundreds of acres of color changing trees.

Forsyth County Communities Nearby: Parkstone, LakeHaven

Red Top Mountain State Park

Situated on the border of Bartow, Cherokee, and Cobb County, Red Top Mountain is a great location to visit during the fall season. Best known for the 12,000acre Lake Allatoona, Red Top Mountain is a must-see destination for boat enthusiasts. There are also plenty of options for both the beginner and experienced hiker with Red Top’s fifteen miles of scenic hiking trails. Recently Red Top Mountain State Park has been a popular filming location for Netflix’s series Ozarks, as well as a large list of major motion pictures.

Nearby Communities in Cherokee County: Harmony on the Lakes, Olde Heritage, LakeStone

Vogel State Park

Vogel State Park has been a popular location for hikers and adventurers alike for generations thanks to the Civilian Conservation Corps and when the fall season hits, it’s easy to see why. The park lies at the foot of Blood Mountain in the Chattahoochee National Forest, connected to the Chattahoochee and Apalachicola Rivers. There is a 22-acre lake located at the foot of the mountain for non-motorized boats. The park also features several nature trails for you to spend a day exploring. This is a must-visit location during the fall because of the rolling blanket of colors it provides us with during this season.

Fort Mountain State Park

Fort Mountain State Park has a little something for everyone with several hiking trails of varying difficulty, blueberry thickets, a large lake, and a mountain overlook. After spending some time on the overlook of the mountain, make sure to visit the two most important historical landmarks of this park — the stone Fire Tower built by Civilian Conservation Corps and the mysterious 855-foot-long wall that’s believed to have been built by natives around 400 A.D. People with a keen eye will be able to find the hidden heart stone in the wall, making it a perfect couples activity.

Tallulah Gorge State Park

Tallulah Gorge has been named one of the most beautiful and spectacular canyons in the Eastern United States and is the perfect spot for you to see the vast array of colors that come with the fall season. Tallulah Gorge is a surprisingly deep 1000foot canyon that can be viewed in two adventurous ways. You can either choose to hike down into the canyon or seek a thrill by walking across the suspended bridge that connects both sides of the canyon.

Cloudland Canyon State Park

Cloudland Canyon is one of the largest and most scenic state parks Georgia has to offer. In this stunning state park, you’ll find thousand foot deep canyons, gorgeous sandstone cliff faces, natural caves, waterfalls, easy-intermediate hiking trails and much more. When you make your way to this one of a kind nature experience, you’ll find several lookout points along the park’s trails to view the sea of colorful leaves.

2018 Home Design Trends

0
0

Your homes aesthetic is so much more than the decor you choose to adorn your walls or the furniture that fills each room. The architectural and structural components of your home lay the foundation, and in 2018 these elements are also making a statement. Read on and look out for these trends in our Sharp Residential communities across North Atlanta.

Ample Cabinetry

2018 Home Design Trend Heavy Cabinetry

If you spend a lot of time in your kitchen, you know the never-ending struggle of not having enough storage space. Luckily, having ample kitchen cabinetry is an emerging trend that we anticipate will stick around for many years to come. Along with having more cabinetry in the kitchen, you can also expect to see more people featuring gray, cream, and wood grain cabinetry as opposed to the traditional white. With a variety of styles and finishes available, you’re sure to find the perfect selection for your new home.

Intricate Ceilings

2018 Home Design Trend Intricate Ceilings

Move aside flat ceilings, and make way for exposed beams, decorative tray ceilings, and beautiful coffered ceilings. From the living room to the dining room, and the study to the bedroom, we are seeing more intricate ceilings being used throughout the home. This beautiful wooden tray ceiling at one of our homes in Northpoint Forest is the perfect example of how a unique twist can change the appeal of the entire room.

Large Tile

2018 Home Design Trend Large Tile

As seen in this gorgeous master bathroom in one of our homes at Blue Valley, large tile is quickly becoming one of the most sought-after features for bathrooms. Not only is the larger tile aesthetically pleasing, it is also more functional. With less grout, it is easier to install and maintain.

Natural Elements

2018 Home Design Trend Natural Elements

From exposed brick to stone, concrete, and granite, natural materials have made their way into home interior design, and we don’t expect them to leave anytime soon! Like this gorgeous stone wall in one of the dining rooms of our Northpoint Forest community, natural materials add charm and unique personality to your home that will stand the test of time.

Fall Interior Design Trends for Homebuyers

0

A custom-looking light fixture shows off your unique design sensibility while making for a great conversation starter. Whether it’s a set of luxury bedside lamps or distinctive kitchen pendants, upgraded light fixtures are sure to brighten up your home’s interior design.

Visit A Nearby Community!

During the autumn season, Georgia will never be short of scenery to explore. We hope that you’re able to get out and enjoy everything Mother Nature offers. Take some time before or after your fall adventures and stop by one of our communities to see the beautiful homes we have to offer.
